This year there are 15 MA students of WISE2006 received full scholarships of Singapore Management University (SMU), and study for the double degrees of WISE and SMU. The students have left for Singapore early this month and would begin their study there. They are the second group of students sent out to Singapore since WISE and SMU subscribed the Double Degree Program.
The fifteen students are selected from severe procedures such as application, credit assessment, face-to-face interview, professor’s recommendation and phone interview by SMU. The study lasts for 18 months and each student gets a scholarship of 62400 Singapore dollars ( about RMB 312000 ) to support their study life. And the enrolling schools are individually SMU School of Economics, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, the courses are Economics, Finance and Management. These students are required to return to Xiamen University to finish their Master Dissertation.
Since its foundation, WISE have been trying its best to create for its students opportunities to international communication, associated cultivation and cooperate research. WISE first sent out 7 students who are provided with full scholarship by SMU to Singapore in 2006 to finish the double degrees. After one year international training of WISE, they manifest deep academic interests and competitive advantages. Most of students sent to Singapore finished their study there with high standard grade points and are acclaimed by the professors in SMU, and they now have returned to Xiamen for their third year courses.
