Author:WISE Date:2007-10-01
The Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) has recently won its bid for the Fifth Asian General Equilibrium Theory Workshop (GETA2008) and has planed to jointly organize the event in Xiamen University on August 4th – 6th, 2008. By then, it will be the first time for this highly authoritative conference to take place in Mainland China.
The GETA was officially started in 2004 to complement the successful General Equilibrium Theory workshops held in Europe and North America. As a highly authoritative conference, GETA does not limit itself to general equilibrium theory, but also spares its attention to the hot spots of Asian economic growth and the empirical studies in related fields. The GETA is planned to hold in the major cities of Asia annually and has traveled through Kyoto, Tokyo, Taipei and Singapore in the past four years.
As a fruitful branch of theoretical microeconomics, the general equilibrium theory, initiated in 1970s, seeks to explain production, consumption and prices in a whole economy setting. The GETA2008 will then by definition focus on general equilibrium theory and its empirical results, but relevant researches on the topics of empirical economics, finance, industrial organization, macroeconomics and public economics are also welcome to the conference.
The purpose of GETA2008 is to provide a venue for researchers working on general equilibrium theory to present their current works and hence to contribute to the further development of relative fields. Thereby, GETA2008 will essay to invite international renowned scholars to deliver lectures on the conference. Furthermore, the outstanding papers presented on GETA2008 will get the chance to be published on the international leading academic journal, Journal of Mathematical Economics, together with other refinements came from European and North American general equilibrium theory workshops.
