From April 17 to 18, 2026, the “Spring 2026 Conference on China’s Macroeconomic Forecasting and Outlook & Symposium on China-World Economic and Trade Relations” was held at Xiamen University Malaysia Campus.

During the event, the China Macroeconomic Forecast and Analysis – Spring 2026 Report, a research finding based on Xiamen University’s China Quarterly Macroeconomic Model (CQMM) was released, along with the results of the “2026 China Macroeconomic Situation and Policy Questionnaire Survey (First Half)” among 100 economists. These releases attracted wide attention from domestic and international media. Journalists from outlets such as Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, The Star, Sin Chew Daily, Oriental Daily, and China Press covered the event on-site and published reports afterwards. The news was also reposted by Chinese media platforms including Sina Finance and Sohu News.
The conference brought together over 70 representatives from 13 universities and research institutions across countries and regions such as the Chinese mainland, Taiwan region of China, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malaysia. Over the one-and-a-half-day agenda, the conference also featured the Symposium on China-World Economic and Trade Relations, which included 11 plenary sessions and 6 parallel sessions. Experts and scholars presented cutting-edge research findings in macroeconomics and engaged in discussions on the economics education in China in the context of globalization.
Conference guests included Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Professor Ruifang Wang, President of Xiamen University Malaysia, and Professor Yongmiao Hong, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics at Xiamen University.
The conference was jointly organized by the Center for Macroeconomic Research at Xiamen University, the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics at Xiamen University, the Center for Forecasting Science of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Digital Economy Strategy Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Development Strategy Studies.
