
On July 14, the 2025 Asian Summer School in Econometrics and Statistics of the Econometric Society commenced at Xiamen University. The seven-day program features lectures by seven world-renowned professors, including Professor Whitney Newey from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The curriculum focuses on the latest international advancements in econometrics and statistics, covering topics such as time series econometrics, panel data analysis, machine learning, causal inference, and policy evaluation.
The summer school attracted over 400 applications from outstanding faculty and students worldwide, with a final enrollment of more than 230 participants from 130 universities in China and abroad.

The Asian Summer School in Econometrics and Statistics was launched in 2005 by the College of Economics, Xiamen University. The College has previously collaborated with other institutions such as the Center for Forecasting Science of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the internationally renowned journal Journal of Econometrics, to jointly organize the summer school. Since 2014, the College has successively partnered with the Institute for Advanced Economic Research and the School of Economics at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, the Center for Forecasting Science of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the School of Economics and Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, rotating between southern and northern China for the summer school. The Asian Summer School in Econometrics and Statistics has always been committed to advancing the research of econometrics in China and has gained recognition from the Econometric Society; It has been listed as one of the Society's official events since 2019. This summer school is one of the two summer schools organized by the Econometric Society in Asia in 2025.
