The "Cross-Strait Futures and Options Trading Competition", successfully held at Xiamen University from May 14 to June 1, brought together some of the brightest young minds in a simulated trading competition. The event, sponsored by the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Econometrics, was co-organized by Xiamen University School of Economics (SOE), Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE), Feng Chia University College of Finance, and Taiwan's Fubon Futures.
The aim of the competition was to enhance the spirit of innovation and applied knowledge in financial transactions and trading strategies. Contestants formed groups of 2 to 5 persons and utilized real-time information to apply concepts of investment and risk management. The investment products permitted for trade included financial and futures products from China's major financial markets, including the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the Shanghai Futures Exchange and the Zhenghou Commodity Exchange.
The winners from the competition were awarded monetary prizes as well as preferential recommendations for Fubon Futures and Radar Futures Brokerage Inc. internship opportunities. They will also be invited to participate in the 2012 International Symposium on Risk Management and Derivatives on June 30.
