
An Initiative of Global Education at Xiamen University, M.A. Economics jointly offered with nine international universities.
Xiamen University is proud to announce that it will host the 2012/2013 M.A. Economics of Globalization and European Integration (EGEI) academic training program. The one-year master’s program is a joint educational initiative to provide specialized training in economics in the face of increasing globalization and a changing international trading environment.
Geared towards a student with a future career in academia, public policy, finance or industry, the program's curriculum includes courses in Advanced Microeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, International Trade, Economics of European Integration and Economics of Globalization. Courses are taught by professors from the nine partner universities, and students spend three terms in three different countries. In 2012 and 2013, students will spend the first term at Xiamen University in P.R. China, the second term at the Universiteit Antwerpen in Belgium, and the third term at the Prague University of Economics in the Czech Republic. Completion of the program leads to an M.A. Economics of Globalization and European Integration degree jointly certified by the partner universities, with diplomas signed by the president of each university.
The joint educational program dates back to 1994. Formerly known as the M.A. Economics of International Trade and European Integration, the M.A. received its new name (EGEI) following the addition of Universidade de Brasília, Brazil and Xiamen University, P.R. China in 2011. The other members of the consortium of nine partner universities consist of Universiteit Antwerpen in Belgium, Università degli Studi di Bari in Italy, Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium, Universidad de Cantabria in Spain, Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille in France, Prague University of Economics in the Czech Republic and Staffordshire University in the U.K. The website of the program:
