Cutting edge research is a major factor in selection. Look at the vital role research played in the regulatory changes of 1982. The importance of identifying these root causes is paramount when seeking solutions, & in today s environment research will likely be at the forefront again as new legislation is crafted. Another example is the major events in 2008 that almost collapsed the banking system versus Amaranth s relatively large collapse, which the market absorbed with ease. It is current topics like these that most interest the APFRS.
