王亚南经济研究院博士后刘娟自今年七月进站以来，短短5个多月时间，先后获两项国家科研资助，分别是教育部人文社会科学研究2007年度青年基金项目和第42批中国博士后科学基金二等资助。其中第二项资助是厦门大学此次获得的唯一的理论经济学课题资助。
刘娟博士于2007年7月进入王亚南经济研究院一级学科应用经济学流动站劳动经济学专业进行学术研究，研究领域为人口学和经济学交叉学科中的人口（劳动力）与产业（集聚）互动关系的研究。劳动经济学是王亚南经济研究院优先发展的学科之一。
