2007 International Workshop on Econometrics and Finance

2007 International Workshop on Econometrics and Finance
Co-organized by WISE and CEFS
 
Co-organized by WISE and Center for Forecasting Science (CEFS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the 2007 International Workshop on Econometrics and Finance (IWEF 07) will be held at Xiamen University on July 19th - 24th, 2007. With the help of the international leading academic journal, Journal of Econometrics, IWEF 07 intends to provide the postgraduates and young lecturers an insight into the forefront studies in Economics, especially in the fields of Econometrics and Finance, and has grouped a team of international renowned lecturers, who come from Cornell University, UC Riverside, University of Illinois, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Southern California, University of Portland, USA, Humboldt University, German as well as XMU and CAS.
 
Since its foundation, WISE has been striving to fulfill the globalization and standardization of Chinese academic education and research in the fields of Econometrics, Finance and Labor Economics, and has established itself as an influential regional center for econometric and financial research and talents nurture in Asia-Pacific. In the last two years, WISE has also successfully hosted the 2006 Summer School of Econometrics and Financial Econometrics for Postgraduates (Summer School 2006) with Ministry of Education of Peoples Republic of China (MEC), and the 2005 Econometrics Training Summer School. Both of them gained enthusiastic public interest and reorganization, and the Summer School 2006 especially earned an official confirmation on the nationwide working conference of MEC.
 
CEFS, as a consultative institute for the central and local governments, focus on the crucial forecasting researches in the development of Chinese economy and society, and has successfully organized a series of high-quality seminars and international conferences, such as the 2006 International Workshop on Forecasting and Risk Management (IWFRM 06) in Beijing. In recent years, CEFS has also accomplished great achievements in the fields of forecasting cope yield, strategic goods, traffic shipment, GDP increase in China and Asia, exchange rate of RMB, inflation, money supply and demand in China and international petroleum prices. All of these contributions of CEFS are highly regarded by the central government and political leaders.
 
On Dec. 2006, WISE and CEFS have successfully held the IWFRM 06 in Beijing in a joint effort with Beihang University, and have built up a solid cooperative relationship. By this newly collaborative project, WISE and CEFS seek to fully utilize the superiorities of both sides, which will definitely benefit the modern economic studies with intensification of international academic links and contribute to the innovations and development of economic and financial researches in China.
