The first SMU-XMU Econometrics Conference (2024), a joint workshop on econometrics between Singapore Management University (SMU) and Xiamen University (XMU), was held on November 15-16 at SMU. A 12-member group of faculty from XMU College of Economics participated in this conference and had an exchange with their counterparts from SMU School of Economics. Prof. Yongmiao Hong from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and XMU, and Prof. Jia Li from SMU were invited to give keynote speeches.
During the two-day workshop, researchers from XMU, SMU, and City University of Hong Kong presented 18 papers in 7 sessions and held lively discussions on such topics as econometric models and methods, climate and environmental change, and financial economics. Senior professors including Prof. Yongmiao Hong, Prof. Jia Li and Prof. Yichong Zhang provided valuable comments on the research of the presenters.
