Call for Papers: 2014 China Meeting of Econometric Society

We are pleased to announce that the second China Meeting of the Econometric Society (CMES), organized by the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics, Xiamen University, China, will be held from June 25 to June 27, 2014 on the main campus of Xiamen University.
 
The Econometric Society is an international society for the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics. To promote academic exchanges between scholars in Great China and the West, the Econometric Society executive committee, with the blessing of the President, Professor James Heckman, decided to hold the China Meeting of Econometric Society on a regular basis. The inaugural China Meeting of Econometric Society was held in Peking University in June, 2013.
 
 
We are also pleased to announce that the first joint workshop between The Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics, Xiamen University and Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Monash University will be included as invited sessions in the conference.
 
The registration fee for the conference is 250 USD for international participants and 900 RMB for those whose primary affiliation is with a domestic Chinese institution. Student participants pay an half of the above rates, respectively. The registration deadline is May 31th, 2014. Late registration fee will increase by 20%.

Xiamen University was founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah-Kee, a well-known oversea Chinese leader who lived in Singapore most of his lifetime.  Thanks to the contribution and influence of the late president, Professor Wang Yanan, who was also a prominent economist in China and a Chinese translator of Karl Marx’s On Capital, Xiamen University has been one of the very top economics programs in China.
 
School of Economics at Xiamen University has been the first economic school established in China since China’sreform and open-door policy was launched in 1978. Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics was established in 2005 with her main mission to focus on high-quality graduate training programs and frontier research in modern economics, finance and statistics.
 
Xiamen, also called Amoy, is a resort-like island city in Fujian Province (on the mainland side of Taiwan Strait), China, and the main campus of Xiamen University is regarded as the most beautiful campus in China. Xiamen has convenient direct flights to major cities in Asia, such as Bangkok (3 hours), Beijing (2.5 hours), Guangzhou (1 hour), Hong Kong (1 hour), Seoul (3.5 hours), Shanghai (1.5 hours), Shenzhen (1 hour), Singapore (4 hours), Osaka (3.5 hours), and Tokyo (3.5 hours).  Hotel rooms have been reserved for the conference in on-campus hotels and nearby hotels with different prices, ranging from 30 USD to 100 USD per night depending on different levels of luxury.
